When I was younger I wanted to be a cultural and economic ambassador between Ghana and Austria.
I grew up constantly representing both sides in my travels between the two countries. Back then there were little to NO ties between the two.
Fast forward to today:
- The honourable Ministry for Trade of Ghana Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen met with Martin Woller, Regional Director Middle East/Africa – MEA and other vital members of the Chamber of Commerce
One of the premium museums in Accra Nubuke foundation was designed by an Austrian firm - The Africa Alpbach Network which started as the African Alumni that came out of Austria’s Davos-like event European Forum Alpbach just left Ghana following a strategy workshop I facilitated
- On the YFM Radio show The Money Hub recently, I got to share about one of my favourite investments in Ghana this year which was Oze a female-founded business raising capital from Speedinvest an Austrian VC
- Christian Strobl from N26 passed through Ghana for a holiday and I managed to hi-jack him for the day for a FinTech mixer with the Ghana Fintech and Payments Association of Ghana
- Startup Wise Guys Africa which operates out of Vienna Austria by Petra Wolkenstein and Franziska Kolk has just accepted another Ghanaian company Built into their accelerator program
- Moderated a roundtable between the Austrian Minister of Agriculture and agritech companies in Ghana.
Things certainly are now looking different for Ghana-Austrian relations and there are more things still coming
